Posted October 19, 2018 07:16:20North Platte, Iowa, has been hit with a devastating flood.
As of Monday, the North River was down to 10 feet in many places and many of the roads had been washed away, according to The Associated Press.
Floodwaters also were impacting homes and homes were underwater in some areas, according the AP.
Many homes were destroyed in the flood and more than 100 were rescued.
“It was like, ‘oh my God, it’s all gone,'” said David Lutz, a homeowner in North Plattes Mills.
“My house was destroyed.”
Lutz said he and his wife were on their way to a meeting when the water rushed in, ripping through their home.
Lutz was able to pull his daughter from the floodwaters, and he got them into their car.
Lutsi said he’s not sure what happened to his house, but he said he believes it was submerged in the water.
“My house, my home is all gone,” Lutz said.
Lutzes house is just a few houses down from a house that was destroyed by floodwaters earlier this year.
“I think it’s just a matter of time before this all comes back to us,” Lutzes wife said.
A community effort was started by the North Plains State Park to help with flood damage and repairs, according The Associated Times.
Volunteers were being brought in from around the state to help repair and maintain property.
The park has started a Facebook page to spread the word.
“We need your help,” the Facebook page reads.
“This is not the time to leave your homes, and we need your support to help us rebuild our community.”
